Greetings Rainmakers!
Welcome to the new year! The weather here in Texas has been alternately fantastic and brutal; I’m still trying to figure out whether I need to turn on my heat or my A/C. Winter may be here, but it seems undecided whether it wants to stay or not.
It’s been a great month for marketing content — I had a really tough time narrowing down the field to bring you these links, and there are definitely some honorable mentions that could have made the cut. This month’s Rainmaker Dispatch has everything from a pithy explanation of how to write headlines that say something to a piece on how organic and paid search work together.
The Best Headlines
Eddie Schleyner over at Very Good Copy has some fantastic “micro-blogs” on the art of copywriting. This particular piece is a great reminder that originality can be overrated.
The Spam Filter You Can’t Ignore
Our own David Brandon took a look at spam filtering on email. Electronic filters matter, but the most important filter is between the keyboard and the chair.
7 Habits of Highly Effective Marketers
Want to be a successful marketer? Corey Haines with ProductLed has a great explanation of the habits that lead you to the top in the field.
Google Search Top Trends of 2021
Google is the top dog for search, and their end-of-year trends list by Natalie Zmuda is a must for any content marketer.
eCommerce Growth Appears to Be Slowing
In-person shopping wasn’t the only thing to take a hit this year. Sourcify takes a look at eCommerce and how consumer behavior changed over this holiday season.
Search Incrementality: How Paid And Organic Work Together
It’s no longer enough to just use organic SEO — you need both organic and paid to thrive on the SERP. George Nguyen’s SXM Next writeup for Search Engine Land explains how it works.
